APP WITH INTERNATIONAL REACH
With the competition for new students becoming tougher and budgets becoming leaner, colleges and universities need a powerful and effective way to reach potential students. Faced with these challenges, The College of Saint Rose turned to FutureMedia for help.
With the smartphone market taking off and millions of students using iPhones and iPod Touches, an app seemed the perfect approach. FutureMedia created Discover Saint Rose, an iPhone and iPod Touch app that Saint Rose can distribute for free.
Unlike the College's Web site, which speaks to a wide and varied audience, Discover Saint Rose focuses solely on prospective students. Relying on Apple's App Store for distribution puts the College of Saint Rose directly in touch with millions of potential students, with national and international reach and no distribution costs.
A COORDINATED EFFORT
FutureMedia worked closely with The College of Saint Rose throughout this process. The app's look and message was coordinated with existing print materials, the College's Web site, radio and tv ads and other branding and marketing materials. Although the Discover Saint Rose app is built on the Pocket Campus platform, the end product is uniquely Saint Rose. FutureMedia also coordinated targeted email campaigns for the college to advertise the app to prospective students.
LESS THAN A POSTCARD CAMPAIGN
With over 60 million devices sold and over 3 billion apps downloaded, iPhone apps are a great way to communicate with potential college students in a medium they are already using. Because Discover Saint Rose is built off the Pocket Campus platform, the Discover Saint Rose app was developed and deployed rapidly — at an affordable price. Unlike traditional direct mail campaigns, The College of Saint Rose is able to track the number of downloads. They are also able to make updates to the app to keep it fresh. And with a dynamic data feed, Saint Rose is able to keep potential students up-to-date with the latest news, again, with no additional costs.
