FLEXIBLE DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM

Cengage Learning’s Milady brand educational materials are some of the most widely used products in the multi-billion dollar Beauty and Cosmetology education industry. Cengage recently asked FutureMedia to help improve the look and feel of their training CD-ROMs, and to bring efficiencies to the development process. FutureMedia created a platform on which multiple CD-ROM titles can be quickly and easily brought to market. The platform gives all titles consistent branding, structure and user experience. It also has the flexibility to give each title a custom look and feel and product-specific features.

RICH MEDIA INTEGRATION

FutureMedia’s CD-ROM platform allows Cengage to include a variety of content, including text, narration, animations, photos and photo slideshows, videos, quizzes, educational games, and a context-sensitive audio glossary. All content is dynamically grabbed from external files, so its easy to update content for new editions of each title.

QUICK, COST-EFFECTIVE DEVELOPMENT

Because all titles are built on the custom Milady platform, new versions can be built and deployed rapidly – without starting over from scratch each time. This saves time and reduces development costs. And because the platform is flexible, new features can be added when needed. For example, new types of content, enhanced testing features, progress reporting and networking capabilities have all been added to the platform as Cengage’s needs changed.
