HELPING CHILDREN LEARN
As part of an initiative to educate elementary school children about the importance of eating breakfast, FutureMedia developed Think Breakfast for the New York State Education Department, in collaboration with Imagine That Marketing & Communications. This game not only helps children learn how to build a healthy and balanced breakfast, it also teaches where our food comes from.
EDUCATIONAL GAMES AND ADVERGAMES
Educational games are a useful way to reinforce important concepts or train the student in the use of certain skills. “Advergames” expose the player willingly to a brand or product message, and are often targeted at adults. What makes this medium so effective is that the experience takes place all while the user is engaged in playing a fun video game, an activity in which they are likely to be enthusiastic participants.
COST EFFECTIVE DISTRIBUTION
The Think Breakfast! game is the second in a series. The original version was so successful that in the second year the original run of 35,000 CDs was increased to 750,000. This allowed New York State to reach hundreds of thousands of parents, teachers, and children with an engaging and targeted message — at less than $1 per unit.
MUSIC VIDEO AND TEACHERS’ MATERIALS
This game comes on a CD-ROM which includes a custom-developed music video that reinforces the Think Breakfast message, as well as support materials for teachers that assist them when preparing for classroom discussions and activities.
