POSITION: Interaction Designer

FutureMedia Interactive is an interactive design and development studio. We create interactive products and experiences for a diverse set of clients including gaming studios, publishers, educational institutions, not-for-profits, consumer electronics companies, and government agencies.

We are looking for an interaction designer to be part of our team in Saratoga Springs, NY. Interaction designers are an important part of our multidisciplinary teams and are focused on the success of our client's projects. Interaction Designers conduct research and develop design strategies, and are able to execute their ideas with a high-level of craftsmanship.

You are user-focused. You love translating client's needs into experiences that make our users feel smart, efficient, and comfortable. You are able to produce clean, friendly and thoughtful design solutions that take best advantage of the opportunities and limitations presented by the target technology. You are an advocate for good design and are always looking for ways to improve experiences for a user. You enjoy working collaboratively with designers, project managers and other developers. You are deeply invested in the projects you work on and you are concerned not only with your part of the project, but also the success of the whole.

Job Description/Requirements

• Planning and strategizing interactive design approaches and solutions
• Working closely with developers to find opportunities and understand limitations of a given solution
• Working closely with clients to understand business objectives and expectations
• Developing design process documents such as design rationales, site maps, user flows, wireframes
• Executing visual design solutions as comps or prototypes and working with developers to see your vision through

To be a good fit for this role and our team, you...

• are experienced in interaction design. You probably have at least 4 years of professional experience
• have an ability to understand user needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into actionable design solutions
• are extremely detail-oriented with a love of fine digital craftsmanship
• have at least one personal project up on the Web
• are organized and able to prioritize tasks wisely
• love working on a team and are energized by learning from others and sharing your knowledge
• can use Photoshop and Illustrator in your sleep
• have a strong understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, CSS and JS. actual production skills are a plus
